Technique Tuesday – Crayon Resist

I haven't had a chance to share our Technique Tuesday cards.  This was last week and we did the Crayon Resist technique.  This is SUCH a fun technique and SO easy to do.

Supplies

Glossy Card Stock

Staz-On Ink and Colors of
choice

White (or light colored crayon)

Stampin’ Sponges

Instructions

  • Stamp an image on Glossy Card Stock.
    Outlined images work well
  • Using white color crayon highlight the areas you want to stay white
  • Sponge over your image including the crayoned area
  • Rub off excess ink with a tissue.
The white areas will resist the ink and POP

TIP:  Using multiple colors of ink to give your creation lots of color contrast

Here is the card we made in class

Stamp Set:  Fabulous You (126520 W 126522 C, page 39)

Card Stock:  Island Indigo, Whisper White, Glossy Whisper White (102599, page 160)

Ink:  Staz-on, Island Indigo

Embellishment: Basic Rhinestones (119246, page 175)

Tools:  Sponge, Light-colored Crayon

We stamped the beautiful shoe in Staz-on on the glossy card stock.  Let it dry for a couple of minutes. Using a light colored crayon, color the areas you want to stay white.  Sponge Island Indigo over the entire piece.  Let sit for another couple seconds and then rub off excess ink with a tissue.  The crayoned areas will "resist" the sponged ink.

Here are some more samples of Crayon Resist

Ink:  Night of Navy, Black Staz-on

Punches:  Word Window (119857, page 183), Modern Label (119849, page 183)

Tools:  Light-colored crayon, Sponges

I used the masking technique on this card besides the crayon resist.  I cut a 1 3/4" circle  and masked for the moon first – sponged around it.  Then took the mask off and stamped the trees.  Then I added the crayon for the snow and sponged – I added the mask again, just so I wouldn't get it on the "moon"

And another sample
