Technique: Masking

I held a workshop recently and one of the techniques the hostess mentioned was masking

So I had fun showing them quite a few cards using this technique in different ways.

We made this card at the workshop using two different masking techniques.

One was to mask off the oval and sponge inside

and then we masked the goose (I called him a "duck" as I was in Eugene!!), so he was actually coming OUT of the rushes!!

First of all we cut out the oval in a piece of card stock and placed it over the front of the card.  Then sponged with Smoky Slate.

Then we took off that mask and stamped the goose.  We then stamped another goose on a piece of vellum and cut him out, placed this piece over the stamped goose and stamped the "rushes".  You can see his tail isn't "overstamped"  (if that's a word!!)  But you get the meaning!.  He's actually "walking" out of the rushes!!

Measurements

Smoky Slate Card Base 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Layer 2 Basic Black 5 1/4" x 4"

Layer 3 Whisper White 5" x 3 3/4"

We cut the "mask" the same size as Layer 3 and attached it with some removable adhesive
