Background Technique with the Woodland Textured Impression Embossing Folder
One of my online friends shared this wonderful technique with me recently and we did it in our club meeting in October. You are going to just LOVE this technique – thanks Ronnie for sharing
First of all here's one of the cards we made
Can you see the trees are BEHIND the embossed trees? Whew that was a mouthful, but I think you get the idea! What a neat way to add REAL dimension to your cards
Measurements
Thick Card Stock card base 11" x 4 1/4"
Layer 2 Whisper White 5 1/4" x 4"
Here's a little picture tutorial
Start with your Woodland Textured Impression Embossing folder with the "Sizzix" name up
You can see the embossed trees are upside down
Open up the folder – you will stamp right onto the folder
Stamp your images onto the folder ( don't push TOO hard as the image will go into the embossing area and you don't want that (yes it happened to me!!)
Add your 5 1/4" x 4" paper over the trees and run through the Big Shot
You now have your image BEHIND the embossed trees
To bring out the embossed trees, I ran the brayer over the trees with Crumb Cake Ink
NOTE: when inking up the brayer, only roll it one way. If you roll it both ways, it tends to leave the ink on the ink pad
TIP: When you brayer over your trees, do so VERY LIGHTLY! Otherwise you will get ink on the debossed area!! Yes I did that too (way too many times!!). Barely touch the paper with the brayer. You'll get a nice cover without getting it too deep. You can also use a Stampin' Sponge to sponge the trees if you don't have a brayer!
And….don't worry about your embossing folder – you are using Classic Ink which is water-based – just run to the sink and wash it and it comes right off!!
LOTS of possibilities using this embossing folder!! I will be sharing more samples!
