This was our Sons' birthdays, so we were a little sad not to be with them and helping them celebrate

Our plan was to go on a shore excursion on Santorini

Sam with our ship, The Jewel of the Seas" in the background

We had to "tender" off the ship – take a small tender boat to the shore.  The dock isn't big enough for the cruise ships to dock.

In the pictures above, can you see the brick "road"?  It's the walkway up to the top – there is also a tram.

Instead, our shore excursion met us and took on another little tender to the back of the Island to Oia, and we were grateful because is was not only HOT but very humid

From the dock, our shore excursion company put us on another tender and we went around the island

We got off and had to walk up about 350 meters (ab out 382 yards).  It was very steep and while walking up, Sam had a little spill

There was a sidewalk made of some kind of gravel and it was unstable.  So that wasn't a pleasant way to start the day.

They put us on a bus and we went to Oia!  

You've probably all seen the pictures of the while buildings and the blue domed churches

Yep, they have lots of them!  Beautiful

From here they drove us by bus around the island and we ended up back on the other side and were tendered to our ship

Again we came back to pillow gifts

New Paper and a promise of something tomorrow morning!!
