Ribbon Weaving

I'm going to share a really neat technique that I learned from Lynn Pratt.  All credit goes to Lynn.  Ribbon Weaving makes a wonderful addition to any card – and is really simple to do!!

Directions:

  1.  Cut Whisper White Card Stock 3” square.  Punch with Full Heart Punch in the center of your whisper white card stock.
  2. Cut 2” pieces of ¼” Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon (I used 17 pieces – number will vary with the size of your project)
  3. Add snail adhesive around the outline of your punched heart image (I layered the white piece on pink, so you could see it)

4.  Start layering pieces of ¼” Real Red Grosgrain ribbon covering the top of either side of the heart

5.   Weave every other piece of ribbon from side to side until you have covered the entire heart

6.   Snip off any ribbon that is showing.  Add sticky strip to hold down your weaving

7.  With the Big Shot, cut out a Scallop Heart of Hearts in Pretty in Pink.  Cut out a frame with your Full Heart punch by lining it up carefully and cutting out the center of the heart (save for later project)  Adhere this scallop frame around your ribbon heart.

8.  Finish assembling your card by laying ribbon piece on Real Red Glimmer Paper (cut 3 ¼” square and  then onto the Pretty in Pink Designer Series Prints (punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch).

9. To add the ribbon, I punched a small piece in the fold at the bottom left of the folded card stock and threaded the ribbon through.  You can use a small hole punch – or stick the end of your card into the Word Window Punch.

Here are two additional Cards I made
