More Gift Boxes

Looking for a box for a small gift – or for giving cards?  I've been making these boxes now for sometime and they are fun to make (SO many neat coordinating colors with Stampin' Up's Designer Series Paper).  I wanted to share a couple that I made this week!

I thought I had shared these boxes on my blog, but I don't think I have, so I'm sharing them now!!

These are called "A2" boxes – A2 stands for a regular sized card (finished size 5 1/2" x 4 1/4").  I have directions for 4 sizes.

If you are a demonstrator and want a document with all the measurements, just email me at janinpb@cbbmail.com and I'll email you my handout.

I will do a quick tutorial and if you have any questions, either email me or leave a comment!

I just love it when someone asks a question and I have the answer!  My daughter asked for a box – she wants to make cards for the males in our family for the holidays and wants a box to put them in.  So, I went looking and found a wonderful box shared by Paula Goff.  All of these boxes are for A-2 cards (regular 5 ½” x 4 ¼” standard card size).

This first box is  2 1/2” deep and will hold as many as 25 cards and envelopes.

Here is a tutorial on how to make this and then I will add dimensions for three other sizes.

I hope this will help you in your holiday gift giving.  These aren’t just for cards, but can used for many other items: candy, small gifts etc. etc.

Supplies

Card Stock:  12” x 12” piece any color

1 Sheet 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper

Sticky Tape

Bone Folder

Simply Scored Scoring Tool

Box Bottom

  1. Cut Card Stock 10 ¾” x 9 ½”
  2. Score each side at 2 1/2”. Using Bone Folder, crease all score lines

Box 3

3.  The next step is to cut the corners of your cardstock by first cutting on the vertical score line until it meets the horizontal score line. Then cut from the right bottom corner to left top corner on each side. Remove the triangle piece. This will make your corners go together easier.

4.  Next place your sticky strip to your corners. (Tip: your sticky strip goes on the outside of your cardstock as it is taped to the inside. Press your sticky strip down firmly before removing the red protective strip.

Box 6

5.  Remove the sticky tape one corner at a time and press together firmly matching your corners.

Box 7

Box 8

Top

  1.  Cut Designer Series Paper 7 7/8” x 6 5/8”
  2. Score all 4 sides at 1”.  Fold along all score lines and burnish with bone folder
  3. As with the bottom, you will cut the corners of your cardstock by first cutting on the vertical score line until it meets the horizontal score line. Then cut from the right bottom corner to left top corner on each side. Remove the triangle piece.
  4. Add sticky tape to all 4 corners on the side you want to show and assemble your box.

Box 9

  1. Decorate the top of your box as you wish

This is a great “shirt” box.  If you would like a belly band here are measurements.

Box 1

Belly Band  2 ½” Box

2 – 8” x 1 ¼” pieces of card stock.  Overlap both ends ¾”

Box 10

Box 11

TIPS for making Belly Band:  Add sticky strip to one piece of 8” x  1 ¼” card stock at the ¾” mark.  Adhere other 8” x 1 ¼” card.  Wrap these around your box and finger crease where the folds will be.  Add sticky strip to the top and adhere.  This is the best way, so that your belly band can be removed from the box easily!
