Father’s Day Vest Card – Swap from Hawaii

One of the absolutely delightful things we do on incentive trips with Stampin' Up is swaps.  Yes we swap even on our vacation!!  We make 26 cards and we get back 25 – one is for Stampin' Up.  We are able to see all the swaps and of course that is a highlight!!  I believe it was Sharon Armstrong who made this card!

I didn't receive one of these swaps in my packet, but I saw this one and it was spectacular!!  I LOVE unique cards and this one is definitely that.  And with Father's Day just around the corner……

Now isn't that just the cutest?  Well….the men wouldn't say it's CUTE, but I think they will appreciate it!!

I'm doing a little tutorial for you, so you can see how easy it is to make.

Here's the sentiment which just slips into the vest

The Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Pack is now retired, but any "masculine" DSP will work!  I have to say the Adventure Bound DSP paper stack has become a favorite.  You can click here to see 24 masculine cards I made, using this great paper pack

Supplies

Stamp Set:  Guy Greetings (Wood 138825, Clear 138828, Photopolymer 137178)

Card Stock:  Early Espresso 7 7/8" x 7 7/8"

Whisper White 6 1/4" x 4 1/8"

Real Red 4" x 4"

Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack – piece of choice

Gold Metal Button (133763)

Bow Builder Punch (137414)

Envelope Punch Board (133774)

Cut Early Espresso paper 7 7/8" x 7 7/8".  Using the envelope punch board, punch and score at 3 3/8"

2

Turn card stock 90% and line up the first score line on the scoring guide.  Punch and score the remaining 3 sides

3    4

It should now look like this

5

Line up the "short" sides on your Stampin' Trimmer and cut both off

6

You now have the "vest"

7

Using the Adventure Bound DSP, lay it on one of the "triangles" and draw a line on the back side

8

Cut this piece out

10    11

Adhere it to one side

12    13

Line up the other side with the leftover piece – the center will be missing, but it won't matter!!

14

    15    16

Adhere this piece to the other side and adhere the vest

18

19

Using the 6 1/4" x 4 1/8" piece of Whisper White, cut 1" into the top on both sides – trim off about 1/4" on each side

20

Add dimensionals on both tabs and fold in to make the collar

21    22

Punch out two sets from the Bow Builder Punch in Real Red Card Stock

24

Use the above pieces

25

TIP:  use a bone folder to curve the pieces – helps them to be rounded!

26

Add "bow tie" under collar with glue dots

To make the "pocket" and handkerchief, use the other small piece punched from the Bow Builder Punch and cut a small piece of DSP or card stock in a triangle for the handkerchief

For the button, I cut a sliver of Whisper White card stock and added it to the button holes – attached to the front with a glue dot

I used the Back to Black DSP for this one – it's now retired but there is NEW Black/White DSP in the 2015-2016 catalog called Everyday Chic – would work perfectly!!
