Technique Tuesday “U” & “V”

I had quite a time figuring out "U" and "V".  But I came up with some fun items.

For "U" we used the Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen.  This pen is SO fun to use and adds such a wonderful addition to your creations.  I had some older pens and they wouldn't work very good.  So I asked on SUDOL for some tips on priming them.  One that worked for me was to "flick" the tip of the pen with your fingernail.  That worked great.  Another good idea was to take the refill out and take a small straw and blow into the refill.  Another idea is to store the pens with the tips up.  All great tips to make these pens last longer!!

Here's the card we made in class

UNIBALL1

Stamp Set:  Simply Said, (115066, page 11),  Short & Sweet, (115060, page 137)

Here's another card that is similar.

And one more – kind of a busy card, but uses lots of ideas for the Gel Pen

Gelpen3

Stamp Sets:  Love you Much (113756, page 27), Simply Said (115066, page 52)

For "V" we used Vellum.  Stampin' Up sells two types of Vellum.  One is Paper (101839, page 156) and the other is Card Stock (101856, page 156).

On our first card, we used the paper Vellum

VELLUM1

Stamp Set:  Close As a Memory (114946, page 58)

Card Stock:  Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze Designer Series (112157, page 159), Whisper White

Ink:  Not Quite Navy, Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers

Embellishments:  Earth Elements Brads Not Quite Navy (106955, page 174)

I stamped the flowers on Whisper White and then attached the Vellum over with the brads.  Love the soft look.

Here's a couple more cards using Vellum

Vellum2

Stamp Set:  Love you Much (113756, page 27)

Card Stock:  Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Vellum, Candy Lane Designer Paper (113980, page 159)

Ink:  Riding Hood Red

Embellishments:  Rhinestone Circle Fire Brads (109110, page 174)

Punch:  Scallop Edge(112091, Page 184)

And another quick, simple card

Vellum3

Stamp Set:  Love you Much (113756, page 27)

Card Stock:  Pink Pirouette, Card Stock Vellum

Ink:  Riding Hood Red

Embellihsment: Real Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109034, page 179)

I also made a sour cream container with the cardstock Vellum – I embossed the hearts from the Love You Much Stamp Set with Red Craft Ink.  I already gave it away at our club meeting, but embossing  works very well with the card stock Vellum.

One other idea I've read for using Card Stock Vellum.  If you own the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and have lost the acrylic to stamp on, you can use card stock Vellum instead.  If you have questions, just let me know
