June Club Demonstration #2 Blooming with Kindness Emboss Resist
I saw a card like done on Stampin' Connection by Mary Brown and I just had to try it. It's definitely one of those WOW cards. Thanks, Mary, for your inspiration!!
Isn't it just stunning? This is a wonderful wow card and can be sent without extra postage through the mail. I don't mind paying the extra 20c, but it's usually because I have added so many embellishments; but this card doesn't need anything more….
Supplies: Stamp Sets: Blooming with Kindness (WM 126420, CM 126422, page 87), Betsy’s Blossoms (WM 126004, CM 126006, page 72)
Card Stock: Whisper White
Ink: Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, Pink Pirouette, White Embossing Powder
(109132, page 159), VersaMark Ink
Punch: 3/16” Corner (119871, page 183)
To do the emboss resist, I stamped the big flower in VersaMark ink – then heat set with white embossing powder. Then I used a sponge dauber and sponged the center of the flower with Raspberry Ripple (brand new In-Color) and the outside of the flower with Pink Pirouette! Nice! Then just used a kleenex and wiped off the excess ink from the embossing area. The vine is stamped in Gumball Green – another new In-Color and the bird stamped in the Raspberry Ripple. Love the font for the sentiment. Quick and easy, but elegant card, dont' you think?
Have you wondered about the new Firm Foam ink pads? I can honestly say I LOVE them. And I'm not one to like change. They stamp much easier – the ink is "wet" – just be careful not to smudge. Have you ever noticed Stampin' Up's Whisper White and Very Vanilla have a little "shiny" finish? One tip to remember when stamping with the new ink pads: hold your stamp down for a count of five….that will let the ink settle into the card stock. Not so necessary with the colors, but helps with the neutrals.
And, interestingly enough because the ink stays wet longer, you can actually emboss with our new classic ink pads. It will dry fast, but if you have everything ready (embossing powder and your heat tool), it works GREAT!!
