As Promised – Tutorial for making the Jr. Legal Pad Covers

I had promised to do this tutorial for the Jr. Legal Pad Covers.  So here it is.  Thanks goes to Melissa Stout for her idea.  These make wonderful gifts, great craft fair items and just to use for yourself 🙂

Supplies:

Cover: Pretty in Pink 11 1/2" x 8", scored at 5.5", 6", and 6.5" 

Front Cardstock Layer: Concord Crush 7 3/4"  x 4 3/4"

Front Designer Series Paper Lap of Luxury Layer:  7 1/2" x 4 1/2"

Concord Crush Layer: 3 3/4" square

Pretty in Pink:  3 1/4" square

Concord Crush:  4 – 1 3/8" squares

Whisper White:  4 – 1/4" squares (cut after stamping the small butterfly from Flight of the Butterfly (111564, page 102) 
Top of Legal Pad Designer Series Paper:  5" x 2"

Designer Series Paper for RSVP pen:  3 3/8" x 1"

Other Supplies:

Jr. Legal Pad ($6.99 for 12 at Staples Office Store)

Pentel RSVP Pens ($2.34 for 5 at Walmart)

Sticky Strip (104294, page 197)

Step 1:  Cut 12 x 12 piece of Pretty in Pink Card Stock (I used Textured CS ) 11 1/2" x 8"

Step 2:  Score at 5 1/2", 6" and 6 1/2"

Step 3:  Fold center score line – your piece will look like this

Step 4:  With paper snips, cut 1 1/2" down from top into the score line.  Cut again 1/2" below

Step 5:  Open up folder and add sticky strip to the left fold – making sure not to cover the cuts – sticky tape from top to first cut and then from 2nd cut to bottom

Step 6:  Remove red tape and fold this to the BACK of your folder.  Now your piece should look like this

Step 7:Open folder and pop out the "pen holder"

Step 8:  Burnish the front score line. You folder will now look like this

Step 9:  Add sticky strip to the 5" x 2" designer series paper for the top of the legal pad

Apply this piece to the top of your jr. legal pad to cover up the pad name

Step 10:  Apply sticky strip to all 4 sides of the back of the legal pad and adhere it to the inside of your folder

Step 11:  Take the end off the Pentel RSVP pen and fold the 3 3/8" x 1" piece around the pen refill – slide it into the pen

Step 12:  Layer Concord Crush 7 3/4" x 4 3/4"  and 7 1/2" x 4 1/2" Lap of Luxury Designer Series Paper.  Adhere to front of folder

Step 13:  Stamp small butterflies on whisper white card stock and cut with 1 1/4" square punch.  Adhere these 4 on 4 – 1 3/8" concord crush squares and then on the 3 1/4" square pretty in pink and then on the 3 3/4" square of concord crush.  Adhere this on the front of your folder.

    The jr legal pads I used were 5″ x 8″. I am sure you will have to adjust my measurements to fit your pad. Or cut down your pad.
