Technique Tuesday – Textured Leaves

Our 2nd technique for Technique Tuesday night, was Textured Leaves.  There are SO many cool ways to make leaves and we "discovered" a few of them.

Supplies

Autumn Accents Bigz Die Leaf
Die Cuts

Stamp Pads in fall colors

Wonderfall Stamp Set

Woodgrain Embossing Folder

Stampin’ Sponges

Stampin’ Spritzer with water

Instructions

 

Technique #1

• Stamp leaf with choice of color
• Sponge desired colors on stamped leaf
• Crinkle up leaf.  Uncrinkle and
  lightly sponge over lines
• Spritz with water and let dry

TIP:  Spritz with rubbing alcohol and Champagne
shimmer paint

Technique #2

• Cut leaves with Autumn Accents Bigz Die
• Run through Woodgrain and Spider Web Embossing Folders
• Sponge over lines made with desired colors
• Spritz with water and let dry

TIP:  Alternative would be to fold leaf over and
line up in Woodgrain Embossing folder at a 45% angle.  Continue as above by sponging over lines and
spritzing with water

Stamp Set:  Wonderfall (128084 W, 128087 C, page 33 Holiday Catalog

Card Stock:  Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Early Espresso Core'dinations Designer Series Paper (127848, page 6 Holiday Catalog), Champagne Glimmer Paper (127885, page 18 Holiday Catalog)

Ink:  More Mustard, Riding Hood Red, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede (and various other "fall" colors)

Embellishments:  Naturals Designer Buttons (127554, page 176), Linen Thread (104199, page 173)

Big Shot:  Autumn Accents Bigz Die (127812, page 33 Holiday Catalog)

I have found it impossible to stamp first and then try to die cut the leaves.  So the BEST solution I have found, is to cut out the leaves from the Autumn Accents Bigz Die first and then place the die cut on top of the stamped image – pressed down lightly with your finger and turn over and stamp.  TIPS:  You can also press down on the stamped image and put something on top and press down (another clear block); or as another option you can bring your grid paper up over the die and press thoroughly. 

After you have stamped your leaf, you can sponge around it with "fall" colors.  Good fall colors are Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Lucky Limeade, More Mustard, Early Espresso, Riding Hood Read.  The next step is to crinkle up your leaf.  Uncrinkle and tap your sponge or ink pad – the ink will adhere to the "lines" made by crumbling up your leaf.  Next spritz with water and you will get a real watercolor look!  BEAUTIFUL

We saw these at the Stampin' Up Convention in July

The backing is our Window Sheets (114323, page 160)

Cut a piece of Window Sheet 3" x 3".  Using White Staz-on (106960, page 157) so you can see the texture, cover the front inside of your Woodgrain Embossing Folder (127821, page 33 Holiday Catalog) and run the Window Sheet through the Big Shot.  Fold window sheet in half and adhere leaves with dimensionals.

I recommend cleaning your embossing folder right away with Stazon Cleaner ( 109196, page 157).  My woodgrain folder is now permanently white – althought it doesn't hurt anything, I should have cleaned it immediately!!
