Shadow Box

I found this project on a demonstrator website and just had to make one – and ended up having a class!!

This Shadow Box project is not hard at all and was so fun to make and share

And here's a little tutorial – please feel free to contact me if you have ANY questions.

If you use the entire piece of 12” x 12” card stock, your shadow box will measure 6” square

If you cut the card stock down to 11” x 11” the shadow box will measure 5” square

You can change the width of the score lines and make the “frame” wider”

Supply List Below

Stamp Set:  Falling Flowers (wood 139553, clear 139556)

Card Stock:  Sweet Sugarplum 12” x 12” (141412); small pieces for center of flowers

Score on two opposite sides at the 3 ¾” and the 7 ¼” mark JUST DOWN TO THE 2ND SCORE LINE

1

Cut on the above score lines up to the 2nd score line, then diagonally to the 3rd score line, and then up to the 4th score line.  Then cut on the adjacent side in cutting out the piece.  Do this on all 4 sides.  Your piece will look like this

2

Add Tear & Tape on the stamped side on all 4 sides. Put the tear and tape right along the outside score line

4

Turn card stock over and add Tear & Tape to the angeled corners

6

Starting with the two long sides, fold up TWO score lines and then fold at the inside score line and press down. Do opposites sides

Your box will now look like this

Remove the white tape on the diagonal pieces and put them back the long way, so these pieces won’t get stuck while you are folding in the outside pieces

8

Next fold up the ends – folding just the first score line and then two score lines and press them into place

Gently spread the outside edges and tuck the other side into the end just made, taking out the tear and tape strips and pressing down. Line up carefully and press down firmly.  Your mitered corners are made

9

Finish off by adding a piece of Designer Series Paper to the inside and decorating as desired.  The 6” square Shadow Box will measure just a smidge under 4 ½” square and the 5” shadow box piece will measure a smidge under 3 ½” square
